London Fire Mark

Fire Mark, issued by the Phoenix Assurance Company Limited, of London.   Fire marks were prominently displayed on the exterior fronts of buildings as proof of fire insurance coverate.  See p. 153, Footprints of Assurance.  Painted on copper, retaining some early paint.  The emblem of the Phoenix Bird is legendary.  This one is shown rising form the flames.
