Carved Architectural Eagle

Carved Wood Eagle, American, mid 19th C.  Made for architectural decoration, probably above a doorway. Large eagle with 25″ wing span, exceptionally well carved. Gold leaf and patina from the early 20th C.  Reference:  “Stars and Stripes: Patriotic Motifs in American Folk Art.”
